Who is Service Dog Consulting?

My name is Barbara Handelman. Service Dogs have been central in my life for over 25 years. I am a service dog partner, a service dog trainer, and a certified canine behavior consultant. I offer a range of services including help selecting a service dog candidate, and determining whether a dog already in training is suitable for the job. I can also help you train your dog by reviewing videos of you and your dog learning new skills. I will respond with feedback and a training plan for you to follow as your team progresses.

I am happy to offer all of my services online. Wherever you live, I can consult with you via telephone, email, or on-line messaging. Is your dog nervous when out in public? Are you encountering behavior problems, such as shyness, fear, reactivity, or aggression? I can help evaluate what is happening and assess whether you might be able to resolve the problems through training. Where appropriate, I will design a training program for you.

I can also help answer common questions about service dog partnerships, including:

• Do I meet the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) standards that define a disability?
• How can a service dog help mitigate my disability?
• Are my expectations for a service dog reasonable and realistic?
